Circuit Court of Cook County announces cancellation of jury service but courts to remain open

Press Release |

Circuit Court of Cook County Chief Judge Timothy C. Evans today announced that, despite the anticipated inclement weather, he expects all courts to be in session and all court facilities to be open today and tomorrow, February 2, 2011.

However, jury service for tomorrow is cancelled. The cancellation applies to anyone who has received a summons indicating February 2, 2011, as their initial date of jury service.

Chief Judge Evans also said that he has advised judges to exercise discretion by continuing matters to the next available date for litigants and attorneys who are unable to be present for court proceedings due to extreme weather conditions.

Persons missing their court date will receive notification from the Clerk’s Office when the matter will be heard in the future.
