“In his 16 years on the bench, Judge Balanoff has been praised for his fairness, compassion and his handling of difficult cases,” said Judge Evans. “I know from his past experience as a Child Protection judge that he will continue to do good work in this sensitive and vital division of our court system.”
Judge Balanoff graduated from the DePaul University College of Law.
As Acting Presiding Judge, he will oversee the judges, administrative support staff and all court operations in the Child Protection Division.
Judge Balanoff succeeds Presiding Judge Patricia M. Martin, who is retiring at the end of her term, effective Sunday, December 6, 2020.
“I would like to thank Judge Martin for her 24 years as a judge with the Circuit Court of Cook County, and for her prior service as a public defender,” Judge Evans said.
