Markham courthouse reopens after short power failure

Circuit Court of Cook County Chief Judge Timothy C. Evans announced a brief electrical power outage in the Sixth Municipal District Courthouse, located at 16501 Kedzie Parkway in south suburban Markham, forced the cancellation of all afternoon court calls. The courthouse was closed briefly early this afternoon and reopened shortly after 2 p.m. Chief Judge Evans said the loss of power was related to severe weather.

An order issued by Sixth Municipal District Presiding Judge Marjorie C. Laws continued all traffic and misdemeanor cases of persons out on bond that had been scheduled for this afternoon at 1:30 p.m. in the Markham courthouse to Friday, August 13, 2009, at 1:30 p.m. The order continued all cases set for this afternoon at 1:30 p.m. for defendants in custody of the sheriff to Monday, July 13, 2009, at 1:30 p.m.
