The Circuit Court of Cook County will be open for business tomorrow, Monday, January 6, 2014, as usual. However, due to expected extreme weather conditions, detainees held in the Cook County Jail will not be transported to their scheduled court appearances tomorrow, January 6, 2014, in all Circuit Court of Cook County court facilities except for the Leighton Criminal Court Building at 2600 S. California Avenue in Chicago. The decision was reached by court officials in response to the Cook County Sheriff’s request to not have to transport jail detainees because his office believed it would be too imprudent and dangerous in the extreme weather.
As a result, the court appearances for the detainees will be continued to a later date by order of Circuit Court of Cook County Chief Judge Timothy C. Evans.
The court facilities not receiving jail detainees tomorrow are as follows:
