JOINT ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER 11-1

RE: ACCESS TO THE COURTOOMS FOR OBSERVATION – THE PUBLIC

IT IS HEREBY ORDERED THAT:

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY AND UNTIL FURTHER ORDER OF THIS COURT,

In compliance with 705 ILCS 405/1-5(6), the general public is excluded from Juvenile Court hearings, except for representatives of agencies and associations, who in the opinion of the court have a direct interest in the case or in the work of the court.

Persons who wish to observe Juvenile Court proceedings for a purpose approved by the Presiding Judge, must obtain a court pass from the Office of the Presiding Judge. In order to receive a pass, the person must present valid photo identification from the agency or association he/she represents.

The court may, for the minor's safety and protection, and for good cause shown, prohibit any person or agency present in court from further disclosing the minor's identity.

Calendar judges may institute more restrictive requirements when special circumstances warrant it.

This Joint Administrative Order supercedes Joint General Order 09-1.

This order is entered this day, February 22, 2011, and shall be spread of record and published.
